China Finish
CHINA FINISH
A heavy stiffening finish imparted to cotton cloth which makes the fabric hard, yet very bright. The mixture used is mostly China clay. The cloth is first passed through a cold water mangle and then through the stiffening mangle once or twice. Added lustre is obtained by calendering.
